Access Introduction Course - Beginners Access Course

Our Access introduction course is designed for new users of Access, or users that might have used a database but do not know the building blocks to edit or maintain the database. The course will cover all the basics you need to know to create a relational database.

After the course, you will be able to:

  • Understand Database Concepts and Objects
  • Create, Edit and Maintain Tables
  • Create Quries
  • Create Forms
  • Create Reports
  • Create Relational Tables, Forms, Queries and Reports

Audience - No previous experience on Access is required to attend this course, but you must have basic windows and keyboard skills

This is a 2 day Access introduction course

Access Overview

  • An overview of database elements, including tables, forms, queries and reports
  • Creating a new blank database, planning and structuring a database

Creating Data Tables

  • Creating new tables using various methods
  • Understanding data types and adding descriptions
  • Primary Key Fields
  • Inserting, deleting and moving fields. Also working with field properties
  • Importing and linking data from other Access databases, Excel sheets or CSv text files

Working with Table Data

  • Adding, deleting and copying records
  • Applying filters, select and form filters
  • Using advanced filters and sorts
  • Proofing tools, e.g. Spell Check, Find and Replace etc

Creating Select Queries

  • Creating new queries using wizards and design views
  • Adding, removing query fields
  • Setting field criteria for all data types
  • Using SQL query statements
  • Calculated queries

Table Relationships

  • Why create relationships between tables?
  • Different types of relationships
  • Conditions for setting up a relationship
  • Referential Integrity, Cascade Update, Cascade Delete
  • Inserting Subdatasheets, Removing Subdatasheets, Expanding and Contracting Subdatasheets
